CN Station and Prince Edward Hotel |
The Canadian Northern Railway invested $500,000 in the building of this luxury hotel, proving that they regarded Brandon the "wonder city of the northwest." The Prince Eddy, which opened on June 19, 1912, was built largely of local brick, faced with brick imported from Belgium. The original furnishings ordered for the hotel went down with the sinking of the Titanic in April 1912. It took two years to build the Prince Eddy but only two minutes to level it on February 24, 1980.
