The rain did not dampen Don's spirit nor keep his
well-wishers away.
.
.
At 90, Don Roy would be one of a handful who can still
play the real bagpipes!
Don was a member of the famous Black Watch.
Don and his former band mates: Jamie McFadden, Dave
Kyle, Doug Carmichael
.
Don laid down his traditional pipes and carried on
with an amazing selection of tunes on his electronic pipes
It was a wonderful party, to see Don Roy in full piper
regalia, playing his pipes on his 90th birthday!
As Jamie McFadden said, "Don's an inspiration to all
pipers".
He certainly was a wonderful teacher to our daughter
China-Li Hillman when she wanted to learn the pipes.
And we miss hearing his pipes when he was our neighbour.

Pam handed her hubby his electronic pipes for a change
of pace. . .
. . . and he amazed the crowd with a medley of favourite
tunes.
Don was our daughter China-Li Hillman's pipe teacher.
She loved playing duets with Don on the chanter.
Eventually, we were able to purchase a set of pipes
for her,
But meanwhile, she performed with us on stage with
her electronic bagpipes.
However, since university and medical school, and
now,
being a full Doctor of Radiology, the pipes remain
in their cases.
