We left the hotel at 6:30 am to visit three sets of ancient
stone-carved temple complexes (only a few of these huge rock structures
were actually temples). The first such complex was just a short walk from
our hotel. Leaving our cool AC room to walk out into the heat of the morning
caused our cold cameras to fog up for the first few photos.
The first attraction we saw was Shiva's Butterball,
which is a huge balancing rock. They had tried to knock it down years ago
for public safety. Even with with the power of seven elephants, the rock
wouldn't budge. Bill climbed the slope to reach the rock and tried
to roll it down the hill. Sue-On who remained at the bottom closed her
eyes thinking it WOULD choose that time to topple down from its perch.
