12. Sinabung Hills Hotel -- Berastagi

www.hillmanweb.com/indonesia/sumatra/12s.html
Sinabung Hills Berastagi is located on Berastagi Karo Highlands.
Our rooms offered a great view of its well-maintained gardens around the pool, the surrounding landscape and active volcanoes in the distance. The hotel was equipped with a coffee shop and restaurant with outdoor seating and it served local and western cuisine.

Next Morning's Views from our hotel balcony
There was a gathering of some sort here...Islamic group.
There are, I am sure, two prominent mosques in the distance.
Other than our visit to the Medan Mosque, this wake-up call was the loudest.
I think they were vying for listeners, and everything seemed to echo and went on for quite some time.
No way to sleep in after 5 am!

.

Azeleas are lovely, but geraniums don't fare as well.
Gardens are so well maintained, but then, labour is very cheap.
There are workers walking around all day to keep everything clean and trimmed.

.

Lovely hotel but the mosque and chanting is still within LOUD hearing distance.

Brugmansia!

White and blue hydrangeas...so beautiful

1.The piece of dough is "thrown until very thin, then placed on the griddle.
Once it starts to puff up, a filling is ladled onto the middle, then it's fold fold and fry.
2. The filling is scrambled eggs and green onion and cheese.
3. Flipping good stuff!

Vera took Sue-On and others to the night food market and then to a restaurant called Mexico Restoran!
Bill stayed at hotel as he was still fighting a cold. This was really nice...shrimp, mixed veg, and deep fried tofu.

SWEET condensed milk to start the layerds . . BUTTER!?
This process takes quite a while, spooning the oil over the packet until the whole thing is puffed and golden brown
One of the "chefs" at this food stall.
He's responsible for the sweets and to place another dpugh onto the fryer for the savoury chef.
Flipped over to cover the fillings
Not sweet enough Here, let me pour on sweet condensed milk on top of chocolate, honey, etc etc
The savoury pancake cut up for sharing

Savory pancake - omelette-like wrapped in dough
The pancake dessert: honey, chocolate, coconut, cheese, sweet condensed milk, to name a few fillings.
Small piece is all you'll need!
