CHAPTER 1: GETTING THERE

1. At Winnipeg Richardson Airport - Freshhii Bamboo Bowl -
Nasi Lemak, chicken, veg, coconut, in anticipation
2. We shared the bowl and the Sausage McMuffin that Bill brought from home.
Next stop: Toronto . . . then a 15-hour flight to Guangzhou, China.


GUANGZHOU, CHINA
Settling in the Gate A60 downstairs lounge for a long wait
for our connecting flight from Guangzhou Airport to Penang, Malaysia.
We couldn't figure out why it was smelling of cigarette smoke.
Later, we saw the sign that said, "Smoking area"!
We soon moved upstairs to the main waiting and food court areas


Sue-On searches for food in the Guangzhou Airport.
We visited this Chinese city on a previous trip to China.
The city is close to the home where Sue-On was born.


Found this little gem after our dim sum lunch.
McD would not accept USD and their
credit card machine wasn't working,so, we had instead:
Fresh mango juice, and a combo called "Mango Durian Dredge"!

Poor guy was the only one manning the counter...at 8 am.

Plenty of room for the +400 passengers, all Chinese except for Bill, the only "whitey"!

Our friends Kerry and Shaheda Morris picked us up at Penang Airport.
We stopped along the way to their home for lunch at a 24-hour Indian restaurant.
We enjoyed Tandooi Chicken, basmati rice, curry squid, green beans, a
nd refreshing watermelon juice.
Our first meal in Malaysia!


1. Ah... the delicious yogurt-like pudding called Dadi.
Loved it during our first visit to Malaysi in 2013 when Shaheda and I picked up 24 containers!
Found the same stall on the way from the airport and picked up all the lady had... 12. SO good!
2. Tandoori chicken, Basmati rice, Curry Squid, green beans and salted egg.
