Bill and Sue-On Hillman
For
over four decades Bill and Sue-on Hillman have been Canada's most prolific
"Indie" recording act, having produced a multitude of music releases
in all formats: vinyl LPs, 45s, cassette, 8-track, film, TV and radio,
video, CD, DVD, MP3 and Web downloads.
The Hillmans have juggled recording and live performances
with their other careers as restaurateurs and full-time university educators.
Their performance tours have taken them to the US and England and to countless
venues across the Canadian prairies from Ontario to BC, military bases,
concert halls, rodeos, universities, barn dances, high schools, churches,
casinos, fairs and exhibitions, grandstands, arenas, bars, socials, etc.
Summer festivals have expanded this eclectic mix
even further: rock 'n' roll, blues, folk, Oktoberfest, gospel, cowboy poetry,
bluegrass, Celtic and reunions.
Son Robin has, in recent years, joined his parents,
doubling on bass guitar and drums. The Hillmans have often invited
other musician friends to join them for various events. For the 2009
Lily Festival Cabaret, two top Brandon musicians, Tom Dowden and Doug Sullivan
will be added to the roster.
