The first Tarzan television series was about to air. It starred Ron Ely and ran for 57 episodes, ending in April 1968.Patrick McGoohan quit the popular spy series Danger Man after filming only two episodes of the fourth season, in order to produce and star in The Prisoner, which began filming in September.

August 29th Events in HistoryIn 1842, the Treaty of Nanking was signed between the British and Chinese, ending the first Opium War. The treaty confirmed the ceding of Hong Kong island to Britain. In 1885, the first motorcycle was patented, built by Gottlied Daimler in Germany. In 1896, Chop Suey was invented in NYC by chef of visiting Chinese Ambassador In 1915, Ingrid Bergman, Swedish film actress, born. Best known for her roles in "Casablanca," "Gaslight" for which she won an Oscar and "Autumn Sonata." In 1920, Charley (Bird) Parker, U.S. jazz musician and composer, born. In 1945, British liberated Hong Kong from Japan - Dad, CPO Jerry Hillman was there. In 1949, the Soviet Union tested their first atomic bomb. The news of the test only emerged on September 22 when the United States, Britain and Canada announced they had detected it. 1959, Chris Hadfield - Astronaut was born on this day in Sarnia, ON In 1965, the U.S. Gemini V spacecraft, with astronauts Gordon Cooper and Charles Conrad on board, splashed down after an eight-day flight. In 1966, the Beatles played their last live concert to a crowd of 25,000 at Candlestick Park, California. In 1997 Netflix was founded by Marc Randolph and Reed Hasting in Scotts Valley, California as an online DVD rental business
